When I have seen by Time's fell hand defaced	משראיתי יד הזמן בִּכְתוֹשׁ
The rich proud cost of out-worn buried age;	יְקַר עידן שָׁחוּק, ומגדלים,
When sometime lofty towers I see down-razed,	שהתנשאו אי-אז, אראה נופלים,
And brass eternal slave to mortal rage;	נכנע פְּלִיז-נֶצַח לחרון אנוש;
When I have seen the hungry ocean gain	משראיתי ים רָעֵב רוכש
Advantage on the kingdom of the shore,	יִתְרוֹן עלי ממלכת יבשה ,
And the firm soil win of the watery main,	וקרקע חסונה כי תיכבש,
Increasing store with loss, and loss with store;	תוסיף חולשה באון, און בחולשה;
When I have seen such interchange of state,	משראיתי זה חילוף עֶמְדוֹת,
Or state itself confounded to decay,	או העֶמְדות עצמן בִּנְגוֹף רקב,
Ruin hath taught me thus to ruminate--	חורבן למדני ככה להגות --
That Time will come and take my Love away.	כי זמן יבוא יקח את שאוהב.
This thought is as a death, which cannot choose	כמוות ההרהור; אין לי אלא
But weep to have that which it fears to lose.	לבכות על שיאבד על נקלה.
